Chapter 22

“Alright boss man, later Big P, talk to you soon Lil Jay.” Waving, Sage expressed his goodbyes to some of the guys he’d met in the joint as he signed for his property. Six months later, he was finally getting out of the big house. Everything looked so different–a flock of birds flying northeast preparing for the winter. They had this thing called Fast Track on the freeway that made people pay to drive on a freeway they’d been driving on for decades. Every time you turned around, it was some high school kid blowing up a school or shooting his parents. Even with all the bad stuff that was occurring, one good thing did come out of it, they legalized marijuana. He was going to get him a card and some medicine as soon as he could; he had to relieve his stress from being locked up with no pussy for all that time.

He couldn’t wait to see his family; he laughed to himself when he pictured his brother, Shastin, sporting a fat ass mustache. Sage was happy to know he still had a few people out there who cared about him as well as a job to go back to. He sat out front and talked to another guy who was also being released. The guy left and so did a few more guys after him. He waited and waited and still no one came to pick him up. Where was everybody? Didn’t they know he was getting out today? Sage personally wrote and talked to them both just under a week ago and reminded them so this wouldn’t happen. He went over to his friend at the guard station, and he let him use his phone to call a ride.
